• The parasitic plant Cuscuta indecora is tentatively recognized as a variable species without recognizing any infraspecific taxa.
• A phylogeny-based identification of freshwater planarians, collected in four localities of eastern Cuba support that the planarian richness of Cuba has been underestimated and new species could be described.
• The origin of scincine lizards can be traced back to Southeast Asia and East Asia, followed by westward dispersals, and followed by significant extinctions in tropical East Asia.
• Four novel saprobic fungal species (Nigrograna camelliae, N. guttulata, N. longiorostiolata and N. neriicola)were described with four new host records saprobic fungal niches in Southwestern China. h
