• The thorny-headed worm Gigantorhynchus echinodiscus has a relatively stable relationship as an intestinal parasite of tamanduas (Tamandua tetradactyla) and giant anteaters (Myrmecophaga tridactyla) in Brazil.
• Study of plastomes from Asterales shows plastid information can be recovered from off-target hybrid enrichment data, providing insights on the structural plastome changes that have occurred throughout the evolution of this order.
• The Caucasian freshwater snail Melanopsis mingrelica finds a refugium in the Western Caucasus region and global warming may have facilitated its colonization of the Caspian Sea drainage basin.
• Vent crustacean exoskeletons are characterized by a reduced proportion of volatile components, an increased proportion of CaCO3 and lack carotenoid pigments with low heat resistance. Results indicate convergent evolution of vent exoskeletons to withstand high temperatures.
